Confidential Therapy for Business Owners and Operators
For the person whose name is on the guarantee
CEREVITY matches business owners with licensed clinicians who understand payroll weeks, personal guarantees, and the loneliness of being the last line of defense. 100% virtual. Private-pay. Nothing touches the business.
The question every owner asks first
Could this ever reach my bank, my partners, or my team?
When your personal balance sheet and your company's are the same document, the confidentiality question is a business question. Here is the mechanism.
No insurance record exists
Private-pay means no claim is filed, no diagnosis code is generated, and no carrier database records the visit. There is no insurance data trail for a lender, an insurer, or a buyer to encounter, because none was created.
Nothing enters the business
This does not run through your company's plan, your bookkeeper, or your office manager. CEREVITY has no relationship with your business. Your clinical file is held by your licensed clinician alone under HIPAA and privilege.
No waiting-room problem
Telehealth-only by design. In a town where your customers, your banker, and your employees all shop at the same grocery store, that matters more than anyone admits.
What actually walks into session with an owner
Not generic stress. Six patterns our clinicians treat every week in business owners.
01The personal guarantee
The house is collateral. A bad quarter is not a bad quarter, it is your family's home, and there is nobody to share that arithmetic with at 3 a.m.
02Payroll as a recurring verdict
Every two weeks, forty households depend on a number you may or may not have. Nobody in the building feels that except you.
03The loneliness of the top of a small org
No peers, no board, no HR above you. Your spouse is tired of hearing it and your employees can never hear it.
04Identity fused to the business
You built it, it is named after you or your family, and any criticism of it lands as a criticism of you personally.
05Family in the business
Employment, succession, and inheritance running through the same dinner table, with no clean line between a management decision and a betrayal.
06The exit you cannot picture
Sell, hand it down, or keep going until you cannot. Every version involves losing the thing that has told you who you are for twenty years.
What the work actually looks like
Practical, structured clinical work for someone who has never once had an hour that was purely theirs.
The first month
The opening sessions establish what is actually happening: sleep, temper, drinking, the dread that arrives on Sunday afternoon, and how much of it is the business cycle versus something clinical that the business cycle is feeding. Validated instruments give a baseline instead of an impression, which matters because owners chronically underrate their own condition.
By session three or four there is a formulation and an approach chosen for it, with clear criteria for whether it is working. You are used to evaluating vendors on results. This one gets evaluated the same way.
How it fits an operator's week
Owners quit therapy because it feels like one more thing that takes and does not give. Our clinicians run a focused hour, assign something concrete to practice when it is useful, and re-run the measures over time so you can see whether it is doing anything. If it is not, the approach changes.
That is not a shallower version of the work. Structure is what makes the deeper material tolerable for someone who has spent twenty years solving everything by working harder, which is the strategy that got you here and the exact strategy that will not touch this.
What tends to change
Early: sleep, and the Sunday dread. The fuse lengthens at home and at work, which your family will mention before your staff dare to. The 3 a.m. cash-flow spiral becomes a problem you handle on Monday instead of a nightly interrogation.
The longer work is the fusion between you and the business: the arrangement in which a slow month is a personal failing and selling one day would be a kind of death. Loosening that is what makes the next decade a choice rather than a sentence, and it is also, in practice, what makes owners better at running the thing.
Therapy, not coaching: the distinction matters here
Much of what business owners find when they search for help is executive coaching. It has value for skill-building, but it cannot diagnose, treat, or legally protect what you disclose.
| CEREVITY, Licensed Therapy | Executive Coaching | |
|---|---|---|
| Who provides it | Licensed psychologists & clinicians (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT) | Unregulated; anyone may use the title |
| Can treat anxiety, depression, burnout | Yes: evidence-based clinical treatment | No; outside its scope, and often unrecognized |
| Confidentiality | Legally protected; HIPAA-governed clinical record you control | Contractual at best; no legal privilege |
| Insurance paper trail | None. Private-pay by design | N/A |
| Right for | Burnout, anxiety, depression, insomnia, isolation, when something is genuinely wrong and working through it has stopped working | Skill-building and performance goals when nothing is clinically wrong |

One seat, one story
Twenty-two employees and a personal guarantee on the building, and I have never told my wife the actual number we would need to hit before we were in trouble, because I did not want her to worry. So I just carried it by myself for nine years. What I got out of this was not a business plan. It was the first hour in nine years where I did not have to be the guy with the answer.
