Confidential Therapy for Entrepreneurs and Owners

Therapy for entrepreneurs carrying payroll, investors, and a face that has to hold

CEREVITY matches entrepreneurs with licensed clinicians who understand a runway spreadsheet, a loan you signed for personally, and what it costs to be the only person who knows how thin the month actually is. 100% virtual. Private-pay. No insurance record is created.

The short answer

Therapy for entrepreneurs at CEREVITY is confidential, private-pay psychotherapy for people whose income, identity, and payroll all run through one business. Each therapist for entrepreneurs works with owners as core caseload, no insurance is billed, so no claim, diagnosis code, or carrier record is created, and sessions run 50 minutes, 90 minutes, or 3 hours.

The question entrepreneurs ask first

Will investors or employees ever learn an entrepreneur is in therapy?

The worry is rarely stigma in the abstract. It is a diligence file, a lender, an insurer, and a team that reads your mood as a signal about the company. Here is exactly what private-pay care does and does not put on paper.

  • No claim, so no data trail

Paying privately means there is no claim to file, no diagnosis code to attach to one, and no carrier database entry showing that you attended. An underwriter or a diligence team finds nothing in insurance data because nothing was put there. The gap sits in how the payment works, not in anyone's promise to be discreet.

  • Nothing runs through the business

No company card, no benefits platform, no vendor invoice, no line your bookkeeper has to code. Your clinical file is held by your licensed clinician alone, under HIPAA and legal privilege. Nobody on your team, your board, or your bank is told that you started, and nothing about this touches your cap table.

  • The disclosure question belongs to the paperwork in front of you

Loan applications, key-person policies, investor questionnaires, and a buy-sell agreement all ask things in their own language, and that language changes. Telling you what any of them requires of you is not something we will do; that belongs to the paper on your desk and to a lawyer you pay. Here is the part we can speak to: CEREVITY files no claim, produces no diagnosis code, and creates no carrier record.

What actually shows up in session when you own the thing

Not generic work stress. Six patterns our clinicians see in entrepreneurs, month after month.

01

Payroll runs in your body

Two weeks out from a payroll you are not certain clears, sleep goes first, then appetite, then the ability to hear an ordinary question without hearing an accusation inside it.

02

The company and the self became one object

A flat quarter is not a flat quarter. It reads as a verdict on your judgment, your character, and everyone who bet on you, delivered monthly.

03

You are the only one with nobody to tell

Your team needs certainty, your investors need a narrative, your spouse has heard the confident version twice already. The real number lives with you and stays there.

04

Rest reads as risk

A day off is a day a competitor did not take. So the trip gets booked, then worked, then remembered mostly as a place you answered email from.

05

The win did not land

The round closed, the contract signed, the number hit, and you felt roughly nothing for about ninety minutes before the next thing started.

06

You are leading people while running on empty

A dozen people read your face every morning for how the company is doing. Holding that expression is a second job nobody ever costed out.

What therapy for entrepreneurs actually involves, session by session

Not a mindset course. Clinical work built for someone who wants to see the reasoning before agreeing to the plan.

The first month

The opening sessions map where the load actually sits: cash pressure, the people problem deferred twice, the rules you run yourself by, and which recovery habits quietly disappeared two years ago. Validated instruments at intake give a baseline rather than a vibe, and the scores usually land harder than expected.

Somewhere in the third or fourth hour the formulation gets stated plainly, along with the plan chosen for it and the reasoning behind that choice. You will know what you are working on, why that and not something else, and what would tell you it is not working.

Why it fits the head of a builder

Owners stall in open-ended therapy for the same reason they walk out of a meeting with no agenda. Our clinicians hold a focus for the hour, assign practice between sessions where it earns its place, and re-run the intake measures on a schedule so the trend is inspectable. If nothing is moving, the approach changes.

That is not depth removed. Structure is what makes depth survivable for someone who has spent a decade being rewarded for control, and it gives the analytical half of you something legitimate to do while the rest gets treated.

What shifts early, and what takes a year

Early: sleep consolidates, the gap between a bad email and your reply widens, and the physical alarm that fires every time you open the bank balance starts to quiet. Entrepreneur burnout, where it is present, tends to loosen on this timeline first.

Later, the harder ground: the fusion between your worth and the company's numbers, the belief that only you can carry it, and the question of who you would be if this ended well. That work is slower, and it is the part that changes how the next five years go.

An entrepreneur therapist and a business coach are not doing the same job

Most of what an owner finds when searching for help is coaching, and coaching is genuinely useful for how you run the company. It cannot diagnose anything, cannot treat what the last five years have cost, and nothing said inside it carries privilege.

CEREVITY, Licensed TherapyBusiness or Executive Coaching
Who is actually across from youA clinician licensed in their own right (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT), with a state board holding them accountable for the care givenAn unregulated title. A former operator with a good exit may hold no clinical license at all
What it can treatAnxiety, depression, trauma responses, and the exhaustion under them: formulation first, then treatment matched to itNothing clinical. Depletion usually gets read as a strategy problem and worked as one
What protects what you sayA clinical record kept under HIPAA by the clinician who wrote it, and therapist-patient privilege that courts recognize. Privilege is powerful without being unlimited, and the exceptions get named at intakeA confidentiality clause at best. No privilege attaches to a coaching conversation, and coaching notes are not protected the way a clinical record is
What a third party could later obtainNothing reaches a carrier, because no claim is submitted and no diagnosis code is created to submit with itNo medical record either, though the engagement usually shows up in invoices, vendor lists, and the company's books
Right forAnxiety, depression, isolation, and exhaustion, when working harder at it has stopped producing anythingPricing, hiring, the org chart, and the next raise, when nothing is clinically wrong

Matched by a person, not by a search filter

One conversation, then a match. You say what the business is doing to you; a person finds the clinician who already treats it.

Confidential intakeOne coordinator carries your intake from first message to first session, and never touches your company, your investors, or your team.
Matched to a specialistYou are paired with a clinician who already carries entrepreneurs and owners, not with the first calendar that happens to have room.
Matched the same dayMatching happens the same day, often within the hour, and your first session takes the first opening on your clinician's calendar: early enough to be finished before the crew arrives, late enough for a day that ran past closing.
Measured progressThe intake instruments are re-run at intervals, so you can read a trend line on this the way you read one on everything else you fund.

Where we practice: nationwide. Our psychologists practice under PsyPact authority in the participating states, with individually licensed clinicians covering the rest of the map. What matters is where you are physically sitting for the session, not where the business is incorporated and not where the customers are, so a month split across three states is our scheduling problem rather than yours. There is no office on purpose: no waiting room, no parking lot, nobody who recognizes you from the chamber of commerce.

One owner, nine months in

I have eleven employees and not one of them knows we were four days from missing payroll in March. I did not tell my wife either. What made me call was not the money. It was standing in the parking lot after a good sales meeting, unable to make myself walk back inside. Nine months on, the cash is still tight and I still check the balance before I check my kids' school app. What is different is that somebody knows.

Questions entrepreneurs ask before starting therapy

Can an investor, a lender, or my own team ever find out?
Not through CEREVITY and not through insurance, because none is involved. No claim, no diagnosis code, no benefits record. Your file sits with your licensed clinician under HIPAA and legal privilege, which is strong but not absolute; the narrow exceptions are explained at intake. Payment appears as an ordinary charge, and nothing is mailed to a home or an office.
My week is unpredictable and I am often the only one who can cover. When would I actually be in session?
Sessions run seven days a week, early mornings through late evenings, which reaches the hour before the doors open, the gap between a site visit and a school pickup, and Sunday nights when the week gets planned. Whatever is running now is listed on the contact page, which converts session and support hours to wherever you are. Concierge members hold a standing weekly hour with one clinician.
Is this business coaching with a clinical label on it?
No. A coach works on the company. A licensed clinician can take a history, treat anxiety, depression, or a trauma response, and hold what you say under a privilege coaching does not carry. Coach is an unregulated title; anyone may use it. Many owners keep both and point them at entirely different problems.
I operate across several states and travel to job sites. Does that create a licensing problem?
Not one you have to solve. What governs is where you are physically located during the session, not where the business is registered and not where the work is. Inside the PsyPact member states your psychologist's authority travels with you; outside it, licensure is state by state. Tell your coordinator where you actually spend your weeks, and matching handles it.
What does this cost, and is any part of it billed to insurance?
Rates sit on our pricing page, so you can price a full year of it before committing to a first session, the way you would price anything else. CEREVITY takes private payment only: no insurance billing, no superbills, and no claim, which is why none of this reaches a payer database.
Why does paying privately matter for someone who owns a business?
Because a claim requires a diagnosis code, and that code becomes a label attached to your name inside a carrier's file. For an owner the places it can surface are not hypothetical: key-person and life underwriting, diligence on a sale or a raise, and proceedings where records are produced, including a contested divorce that reaches the business. Private-pay generates no claim, so no code exists to generate. What that does not do is answer a disclosure question on any specific form. That answer lives in the document in front of you, read directly, with your own counsel where it matters.
