Confidential Therapy for Real Estate Investors and Operators
Therapy for real estate investors carrying debt they signed for personally
CEREVITY matches investors and operators with licensed clinicians who understand recourse debt, capital calls, and the stretch where nothing trades. 100% virtual. Private-pay. No insurance record is created.
The short answer
Therapy for real estate investors at CEREVITY is confidential, private-pay psychotherapy for people whose net worth, debt and identity sit inside one portfolio. Clinicians treat the person, not the portfolio: no financial, tax or lending advice is given, and no insurance claim, diagnosis code or carrier record is created. Sessions run 50 minutes, 90 minutes or 3 hours, nationwide.
The question investors ask before they will say anything
If you admit how exposed you actually are, where does that admission land?
Most investors will talk through a deal with anyone and their own exposure with nobody. Here is exactly what private-pay care creates, what it does not create, and the part that is not ours to interpret for you.
No claim, so no payer file
Private-pay means no claim is submitted, no diagnosis code is generated, and no insurer database records that you attended. No superbill is issued and no claim is ever filed on your behalf, so there is nothing sitting in a payer system for anyone to find later. Nothing was put there in the first place.
The file stays with your clinician
Your clinical record is held by your licensed clinician alone, under HIPAA and legal privilege. It does not reach a partner, a co-investor, a lender, a broker, or anybody on your cap table. Nobody is notified that you started, and nothing about it is reported to anyone, at any point.
What you signed is not ours to interpret
Operating agreements, loan documents and partnership terms differ deal by deal and move with every amendment. We will not tell you what a lender, a partner or any agreement asks of you: the only reliable version is the current text of the document you signed, read with your own counsel. What we can state plainly is what CEREVITY generates: no claim, no diagnosis code, no carrier record, and no financial, tax or lending advice.
What actually walks into therapy with a real estate investor
Not deal stress in the abstract. Six patterns our clinicians hear from people whose balance sheet and self-concept turned out to be the same document.
Your own name on the note
The entity is not what is exposed here. You are, personally, and you signed for that in a room where saying so out loud would have cost you the deal.
The process that never quits running
You are at dinner and simultaneously running a refinance scenario, a lease-up timeline and a downside case, without having decided to open any of them.
Nobody in the room can hear it
Partners need your confidence, your spouse sees the lifestyle, and other investors are competitors. The list of people you can tell the truth to has quietly reached zero.
Wealth on paper, fear in the body
The statement says one number and your liquidity says another. The gap between them is where the sleep goes, and reading the statement again has never once closed it.
A quiet quarter reads as failure
You cannot stop transacting. Not buying is not experienced as patience; it is experienced as evidence that whatever you had is gone.
Money as the only instrument you trust
Every problem that shows up in your family gets solved by writing a check, because that is the tool you are fluent in and nobody ever taught you the other one.
What a course of therapy for real estate investors involves
Structured clinical work for somebody who underwrites for a living and has never once underwritten themselves.
From intake to formulation
The opening sessions build a picture: what the exposure is doing to sleep, concentration, appetite and the people at home, what is ordinary stress and what has become depression or an anxiety disorder, and whether alcohol has quietly become part of the operating system. Investors tend to arrive with an explanation already built, and it is usually a market explanation. Your clinician takes it seriously, then tests it with validated instruments so there is a baseline rather than a narrative.
By the third or fourth session there is an explicit formulation and a plan matched to it. You will be told what the approach is, why it was chosen, and what would count as it not working, because you are going to want the thesis before you commit.
How it fits someone who thinks in models
Therapy that stays vague loses this audience inside three sessions. Our clinicians work with a focus for the hour, specific practice between sessions, and outcome measures that get re-run, so progress is inspectable instead of asserted. If the numbers are flat, the approach changes.
That is not depth removed. Structure is what makes depth survivable for somebody whose entire professional training is about staying level while a number moves against them in public.
What moves first, and what takes longer
Early: sleep, the middle-of-the-night wake-up, the rumination loop that starts on one line item and finishes four hours later, the fuse with your family on the drive home from a walkthrough.
Later, the harder material: what you decided money meant back when you had none, why enough has never once arrived on schedule, and whether the next acquisition is a strategy or an anesthetic. None of that is financial advice and your clinician will not give any. It is the one position in the portfolio nobody has ever examined.
Treatment, not coaching: what a licensed clinician is for
What an investor under pressure gets offered is adjacent to the work: a mastermind, an accountability coach, a peer group, a retreat. Those have uses. None can take a clinical history, none can treat what a history turns up, and none of them holds privilege over what you say.
| CEREVITY, Licensed Therapy | Coaching, Masterminds or Peer Groups | |
|---|---|---|
| Who is treating you | Clinicians licensed in their own name (PhD, PsyD, LCSW, LMFT), each personally accountable to a state board for the care they deliver | No licensure required. A coach or group facilitator answers to whoever engaged them, or to nobody at all |
| What it can treat | Depression, anxiety, panic, sleep disturbance, alcohol concerns and trauma: formulation first, then evidence-based treatment matched to it | Nothing clinical. Pipeline, structure and accountability work sits outside any treatment scope |
| Privilege and confidentiality | Held by your clinician under HIPAA, with therapist-patient privilege recognized in legal proceedings. Privilege is real and it is not unlimited: narrow exceptions, such as imminent danger, apply | Contractual at most, and often not even that. No privilege attaches, and a peer group is a room full of people who trade in your market |
| Financial, tax and lending advice | None, by design. Clinicians treat the person and do not advise on deals, debt, tax or strategy. No claim reaches a payer either, so nothing enters an insurance record | Commonly part of what is being sold, and offered without any clinical or fiduciary standing |
| Right for | Burnout, anxiety, depression, sleep loss, grief, and the point where carrying the exposure alone has stopped working | Strategy, structure and accountability questions when nothing is clinically wrong |
One conversation, then a match: how starting works
Tell us the shape of the portfolio, the shape of the week, and what is actually going on. A person reads it and makes the match. You never filter a directory yourself.
Where we practice: nationwide. PsyPact authority carries our psychologists across the participating states, and clinicians licensed individually handle everywhere it does not reach. What governs is not where the assets are; it is where you are physically located during the session. Tell us where you live and where you actually spend your weeks, and matching handles the licensure. No office by design: no waiting room, no lobby, nobody who knows you from a broker event.

Three session lengths, matched to what is in front of you. Most investors settle into a weekly hour; some open with a longer block when a quarter has gone badly.

One investor, one ordinary Tuesday
“I told my wife the portfolio was fine for about fourteen months. It was not untrue, exactly. What I actually said in a session, and did not plan to say, was that I felt nothing when we closed the last one. Not relief. Nothing. I have stopped checking balances before bed, which sounds small and is not. The middle-of-the-night thing still happens, maybe two nights a week now instead of five.
